Lightning Bolts of the Week: Congratulations to the following students for being acknowledged as Lightning Bolts of the Week on Friday, February 10, 2012: Joshua McDermott, Emma Baier, Emily Hayes, Jeremy Pashia, Kiersten Winder, Dallas Royal, Anthony Santos, Stetler Harms, Aubrey Treumann, Lizzy Arreola, Sydney Jung, and Katryn Cabeguin. In addition, congratulations to Mrs. Rickards, one of our fabulous 2nd Grade Teachers, for winning staff Lightning Bolt of the Week.
Student Council Spirit Day – Tuesday, February 14th: Red, pink, purple, white, and blue…what do these colors have in common? These are the holiday colors students may wear to celebrate Valentine’s Day on Tuesday, February 14th! And, yes, clean cut jeans are allowed, too. Sweet!
BETA Club – Snack Shack: The BETA Club will be selling sweet treats in the snack shack on February 13th, 14th, and 15th, during recess. Items available will be: Cyclone-Hyperstripe ice cream bar, Jr. Firecracker Popsicle, cheese balls, large dill pickles, and bags of popcorn. All items will cost $.50 - $.75. Thank you for supporting your BETA Club!
PTA Family Night : Lamping’s PTA has teamed with UNLV Runnin’ Rebel Basketball to invite parents and loved ones to spend time with the children in their lives. There are 2 games to choose from, UNLV vs. Air Force on Saturday, February 25 at 1:00 p.m. or UNLV vs. Wyoming on Saturday, March 3, at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are only $13. To order tickets, log onto our school website lampingelementary.com for the link and instructions or go to www.unlvtickets.com/athletics/ and click on presale/promo code, enter UNLVPTA4 under upcoming events and choose your game. Print your tickets from your computer. Tickets must be purchased prior to 48 hours before the game. Join us and help Lamping win another UNLV Pep Rally for a second year! Yard Sale Items needed! It’s time to clean out closets and donate any items you need to get rid of to our Community Yard Sale. All proceeds go directly to support the WMSC. The yard sale is planned for Saturday, March 24th, 7:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Please see the back of this newsletter to sign up and help. Please contact holley@lampinelementary.com to donate items.
Yearbook Sales: Yearbooks will be on sale through May 4, 2012. Yearbooks are $25 each, and you can add a line of personalization to the cover for $1. To purchase, log onto www.jostens.com, select SHOP then Yearbooks, type Lamping Elementary, and then follow the steps to order and pay for your purchase. Please keep a copy of your receipt for confirmation.
Box Tops: With our community support our PTA has raised $1,452.41 so far with Box Tops. Every Box Top counts so please continue your support and send Box Tops to school with your child.
You can help make a difference for our school by saving and turning in “Box Tops.” Simply clip the “Box Top for Education” symbol of many of your grocery items and send them in to your child’s teacher. “Box Tops” can be found on items such as: Betty Crocker, Pillsbury, Hamburger Helper, Kleenex, Nestle, Cheerios, Chex, Ziploc, Hefty, Natural Valley, etc. Please assist our volunteers by submitting box tops that have been wiped free of debris and trimmed to size.
Three times throughout the year there will be a class incentive for the class bringing in the most “Box Tops.” If you would like more information on how to support our school, please contact Megan at megan@lampingelementary.com.
2012-2013 Returning Student Registration: Watch for packets coming home Monday, February 27, 2012 for those students returning to Lamping ES for the 2012-2013 school year. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. White at 799-1330 X4006 or online at chanta@lampingelementary.com.
New Student Registration: Spread the word – Kindergarten and all new student registration for the 2012-2013 school year at Lamping Elementary will be posted online beginning February 27, 2012.
