Why is your membership important?  Lots of reasons.  For the national and state PTA organizations, your membership helps them continue in their efforts to lobby for important child-focused legislation.  It also helps them provide information and leadership materials to the local PTAs.  $4 of your membership dues go to state and national PTAs. 

For us here at Lamping, your membership helps us to better inform and involve families in the school, enabling us to sponsor lots of community-building events as well as support school programs.  The more involvement, the better our children's education will be.  Studies consistently show that involved parents make better educated kids.   Never underestimate the influence that your participation has on your child.  When your child sees you participate, it helps them to understand the value of education and this not only keeps them on track, but also lets them know that you care about them.

Does joining the PTA commit you to anything?  No, it doesn't.  By joining you've already helped.  But, if everyone gave just one hour a year -- less than the commitment of a dental appointment -- just think of how much impact we could have on the education and values of the children at Lamping.   If you join the PTA, we will possibly ask for your help at one time or another.  Don't feel guilty if you have to say no.  We all have lots going on in our lives.  All we ask is that you give what you can -- whether it's an hour a year, or an hour a week.
